Job Title: Membership Director
Job Status: Volunteer Position

Reports to: Global Youth Network Board Members
Purpose:
Focus on managing and overseeing the Global Youth Network (GYN)’s Membership Program. This job is focused on maintaining and developing the Membership Program. The Membership Director will achieve this by working with various departments and local action teams to actively promote this new program to all Global Alumni. He/she will be also work closely with the newsletter editor in publishing semi-annual newsletters for all members and to our organizational partners abroad. Each newsletter will inform members of current GYN projects, upcoming events and campaigns, and bring awareness of social issues affecting our country partners within the regions, which they are working in. He/she will also seek innovative ways to successfully recruit new members and retain current members. Knowledge and enthusiasm about GYN and planning/expansion are fundamental to this position.
Principal Accountabilities:
o Collaborate with the GYN Board Members and staff in the creation of a strategic framework to generate a membership base
o Research cost effective retail methods to expand our reach to Global Alumni
o Begin to develop and implement new recruitment plans to seek new members
o Identify and make use of appropriate resources and opportunities that promote the Global Youth Network’s mission and its values
o Work with newsletter editor
o Collect and compile stats on members and membership trends
o Monthly reporting on membership trends and overall progress at GYN Board Meetings
o Ensure materials (e.g. newsletter) is coherent for members
o Arrange annual members meeting (AGM) once a year
o Organize annual party
o Liaise with eco-team for funding ops for members
o Sit on granting committee
o Processing membership fees
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Knowledge:
o Knowledge of GYN and issues concerning international development, especially within our country partners.
o Knowledge of marketing and communications on multiple levels.
Skill
o Excellent communication skills – ability to motivate and create working relationships internally within GYN and externally at all levels.
o High level of project management skills and the ability to prioritize.
o High level of administrative skills and experience with marketing and communications.
Experience:
o Strong background in at least one area of:
o Marketing and Administration

Purpose:
Focus on overseeing and publishing the Semi-Annual Newsletters for Global Youth Network (GYN)’s Membership Program. This job is focused on creating and developing the Semi-Annual Newsletters for the Membership Program department. The Newsletter Editor will achieve this by working with various departments and local action teams to product these newsletters for all GYN members (staff, board members, alumni) and for organizational partners. He/she will also work closely with the Membership Director and writers (regular and guest writers) in publishing semi-annual newsletters for all members and to our organizational partners abroad. Each newsletter will inform members of current GYN projects, upcoming events and campaigns, and bring awareness of social issues affecting our country partners within the regions which they are working in. Knowledge and enthusiasm about GYN and previous newspaper writer and/or editorial experiences will be fundamental to this position.

o Collect and compile stories from contributing writers (various GYN members and country partners
o Publishing newsletters – editing all article submissions, promoting fundraising events within each region, layout production, dissemination of each newsletters to all GYN members and partner organizations affiliated with GYN
o Set specific deadlines for all article submissions for each newsletter publication
o Organize editorial meetings with all contributing writers
o Coordinate layout production meetings with production team
o Ensure materials (e.g. newsletter) is coherent for members
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Knowledge:
o Knowledge of GYN and issues concerning international development, especially within our country partners.
o Knowledge of marketing, and communications on multiple levels.
Skill
o Strong English writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
o Newspaper writing, editorial, and layout production experience is an asset.
o Excellent communication skills – ability to motivate and create working relationships internally within GYN and externally at all levels.
o High level of project management skills and the ability to prioritize.
o High level of administrative skills and experience with marketing and communications.
